New Kickstarter - Graveyard of the Gods
over 1 year ago – Tue, Aug 16, 2022 at 08:23:48 PM

Hello Lock and Key Backers,

I hope you enjoyed Lock and Key and all the other books in the This and That series.

We're excited to say that we've just launched another Kickstarter campaign for Graveyard of the Gods!

An astral ship approaches a giant head floating in the astral plane.

Floating on the astral plane are the calcified bodies of gods long dead. Yet a spark of their divine power remains. These god corpses are rich in magical resources waiting to be plundered, but they also give rise to strange environments and dangerous monsters.

Graveyard of the Gods is an anthology of adventures for 5e and Pathfinder 2e. Each is set on the massive corpse of a dead god. These adventures favor exploration and wonder, and you can run them independently or string them together for a campaign.

Plus we have stretch goals for bonus adventures and more. The sooner we hit these goals the better the final product, so back today

The Adventures

Junk Racers by William Fischer – Eventually, all lost things in the multiverse find their way to the corpse of a long-dead god of junk. What becomes of all that trash? It's turned into magical race cars of course! Heroes can join racing teams of kobolds, hobgoblins, or a half-dragon, or they can compete as a team of their own. (Level 4-6)

Temple of Knowledge by Matthew J. Hanson – All that remains of this lost god of knowledge is their head. At the Monastery of the Tree, the monks record the predictions that grow on the prophecy tree. Meanwhile, a mine of magical ion stones has dug too deep and disturbed a sentient crystal living within. (Levels 5-7)

Valleys of Mists and Roars by Eran Aviram– A lush jungle grows on the corpse of a god of the wild. Dangerous beasts fill the land, the crew of a crashed ship begs for help, while an undead cult tries to steal divine power from the god's remains. (Levels 6-8)

Isles of Mettle by Tristan Fishel – A dead god of war is sundered in two, his petrified intestines bridge the two halves of his body. Warriors come to test themselves in eternal battle, always reborn in the Pool of Valor. But recently a ruthless warlord has seized control of the Pool of Valor, tipping the balance of power on the isles. (Levels 7-9)

The Crushing Hand by Jay Africa – Years ago, an asteroid city collided with the hand of an ancient god. Now the hand is slowly crushing the city. Anybody who could leave has. Heroes might try to rescue more survivors, broker peace among the city's many factions, or fight the planar parasites spilling over from the dead. (Level 9-11)

Dreams of Astral Evil by William Fischer– On the corpse of a god of elements, four factions representing air, earth, fire, and water have each claimed a portion of the cavern within the god's body. These factions maintain a tenuous balance...one the heroes could easily upset. (Levels 12-14)

Back now!

Kobolds and hobgoblins drive magical race cars made of junk.

Torch and Lantern
about 2 years ago – Thu, Jan 27, 2022 at 09:05:40 AM

Hello Lock and Key Backers,

As I've mentioned before, the This and That series, started by Lock and Key, is continuing beyond what the Kickstarter campaign funded.

Now we've released the first book post-Kickstarter: Torch and Lantern. Those who are supporting us on Patreon should have already gotten their copies. If you didn't join the Patreon but are interested in Torch and Lantern you can get it on DriveThruRPG for 5e, Pathfinder 2e, or Savage Worlds.

Torch and Lantern is all about how we see in the dark. It includes:

  • A real-world history of human-made lighting
  • How lighting might change in a fantasy world
  • 6 new pieces of mundane equipment, like fungus lantern and glow goop
  • Optional rules for upgrading continual flame (5e/PF2e) or light (Savage Worlds)
  • A random light source generator
  • 3 new magic items, like the intelligent lantern Obo the Illuminator
  • 5 new monsters, including living prismatic sphere and radiant drake

I won't message you every time we release a book in the series, but I wanted to make sure you knew it was still going on. If you want to stay up to date on This and That and make sure you never miss one, make sure you join our Patreon.

Books are Ordered!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Dec 09, 2021 at 07:40:07 PM

Hello Lock and Key Backers,

I've now ordered print books for nearly everybody who got a print collection!

If you backed at the print level, you should have either gotten an email from DriveThru or a Kickstarter message from me. There are just a few of you who had issues with your address or card payment who I've reached out to, so if you didn't get an email from DriveThruRPG, check for that.

December is a busy time of year for the printers DriveThru works with. The last estimates I've seen are 10-15 business days to print the books, plus shipping. There are separate printers in US and UK, so people in those countries will probably see their books in 2-3 weeks, while the rest of the world will probably be around 3-4 weeks.

This and That Continues!

Getting the print books out wraps up everything for the Lock and Key Kickstarter campaign, but the This and That series continues! I'm working hard to finish our next book, Torch and Lantern, by the end of December (cover bellow).

Looking ahead, I've also opened up voting for the fifth book in the series, which might be about books, disguises, or ways of telling time. We've already got a bunch of votes in from our Patreon backers. You can add your voice and make sure that books in the This and That series keep getting made by joining our Patreon now.

Check Your Address!

Hello Lock and Key Backers!

I'm excited to say that proofs for the print collections of the three books have come back and they all look good!

I'm going to start ordering these for backers on Wednesday of this week. That means that between now and then, please double check your address, especially if you have recently moved.

If you are planning to move within the next month or so, please let me know via Kickstarer message or at [email protected]. In this case I've found that it's better to wait until your at the new address and ship the books there.

I think that the print books turned out great, and I'm excited to get them into your hands.

Thanks,

Matthew

Last Call of Typos

Hello Backers,

I hope you've enjoyed Lock and Key, Rope and Chain, and Secret at Cypher.

I've started putting together the layout for the print collection. I want to do one last call to see if you spotted any typos that slipped past our editors. I put together a Google Doc that you can add to, or you can simply leave a comment or send me a message.

I'm planning to order the proof copy next weekend, so if you see anything, please let me know by then.

Thanks,

Matthew
